Seat Belt Help!!

Post by p-car912 »

Hello,

I was wondering if any has come across the same problem me.

I have changed my fount seats in my 69 912 from standard to later ones (I know I know but I thought I would give them a go).

But the problem I didn’t anticipate is that I have now lost my bottom two seat belt anchor points as they attach to the old seat.

Has anybody else had this problem?

How do you get around it?

I guess this would be a good time to up grade to retractable belts is there a Kit?

Sorry for all the questions and thank you in advance

Someone had done this on my car. PLEASE DON'T DO THIS .... They used a captive nut insert to mount a bracket to the centre tunnel, and then mounted the seatbelt anchor to this..... If I'd ever need the belts, this would have ripped straight out  Scared myself when I discovered this..... I've track day'd the car EEK !
This is where the seatbelts fit on the later cars (Tunnel, just behind the gear stick) attached to t he centre tunnel, but for heavens sake, make sure you reinforce the surrounding area.

Hi, I have also commited the 'later seat' offence  Much more comfortable!!

No easy fix I'm afraid for the seat belt anchorages.

I had two large plates welded into the sills with threaded anchor plates fitted on the back. On the tunnel side the lower anchorage mounts to a substantial right angle bracket fitted under the mounting for the seat as on the original.

This bracket I also bolted to the adaptor plates I made to fit the seats.

The inner brackets are not pretty and I'm not proud of them! But they are strong. When I get a free few hours I plan to build something as substantial but more elegant!

Thanks for your replies guys.
I have a friend in the manufacturing biz may ask him if he can make up some sort of seat plate cross seat belt anchor point type thing, after all that’s all the original seat had.

Thanks for you help again.
