helmets .. if you can get to a decent shop and try lots on ( same as you would with a motorsport helmet ) . The comfiest and my favorite helmet is an off road oriented one which probabally for your kind of riding would be ideal
Listen to Neil too ref a decent pair of padded shorts . Makes a huge difference and you can wear them under more traditional shorts if the lycra look isnt your thing ... just remember, padded shorts are designed to be worn next to the skin so no Y-fronts on first !

Ha!
Not sure about the pads, doubt I'll be riding that much, just and hour or so, maybe 2.
However, now a proud owner of a non-fancy helmet from Halfords. Great fit, and i mean a great fit with a good click adjuster at the back, magnetic chin strap and a very bright rear red light with a variety of sequences.
2 in the shop, both the same spec, both felt very different!

Amazingly this held the 5 miles home although it was very bumpy

Heading up to Glasgow this weekend for the WC Men's RC. Should be a great race with them having to climb up the city hill a few times per lap.
Two very good Belgium contenders but maybe MVP will crash the party.
For the women's race the Dutch could lock out the podium!

Judging by Remco's performance in San Sebastian I reckon he'll take some beating...neilbardsley wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 3:17 pm Two very good Belgium contenders but maybe MVP will crash the party.
But he may be collectively marked out of the game.

At the Europeans in Glasgow, on a similar circuit, there was a reduced bunch sprint. I'm not sure the hills are long enough for him but as you say he is probably the favourite. With Wout racing I think they have options. I suspect they will want a hard pace from the start to reduce the numbers and try a bit of one two.
Let's not forget Primoz and Tadej are working together too. Both enjoy a course like this. I really wonder how much Tadej has left after a very tough tour.
I wonder what security measures the Dutch team has taken to stop someone knocking on MVPs door in the middle of the night?

Great short weekend in Glasgow. The city is buzzing. We, by accident, stayed in a team hotel for several nations.
Got to meet this superstar
We had a great place on Sunday to watch the men's race.
Might nip up for the women's race next weekend!

We watched quite a bit of the 'Glasgow thing' and esp enjoyed the down hill racing.
Great coverage, excellent camera positions and very good commentary, the wife was unusually enthused!
We often watch the European big bike stuff, tours in France and Italy etc, but the Glasgow event was very good.
