The 'Maverick' Classic Porsche Forum and Classic Porsche Club for Porsche 356, Aircooled Porsche 911, Porsche 912, Porsche 914 & Porsche Replicas. 'We join for the cars but stay for the people'
maverick noun
1. an unorthodox or independent-minded person.
2. an unbranded calf or yearling.
Origin mid 19th century: from the name of Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), a Texas rancher who did not brand his cattle.
1970 911T, Signal orange (Restoration thread)
1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.
Thanks for the comments,
Focus at the moment is getting the electrics done as far as I can. Need to decide on the battery to use, both inner wing battery boxes have been blanked off but looks like I could still get the same battery as the 3.2 Carrera (Bosch 096) in but seems like overkill. Weight isn't really an issue but would be nice to go for a smaller form factor to allow me to use one of the ebay battery boxes I've seen .
Had a quick google and looks like there may be something like the battery from a small Peugeot diesel that hits the sweet spot. Planning to go for electric A/C and upgraded alternator from Classic Retrofit so may just give them a call and see what they recommend. Also need to decide where to fit the cutoff switch, might just go for in the clock blank.
I've also seen another that I cant find again where the dash top isn't fitted and there us just a felt covering and rubber over the seam. Would be great to see some other images for inspiration. Currently bidding on vintage Dymo printers on ebay!
Hi Rich, if you go for one of our 175A alternators you can go smaller on battery capacity. I run an Odyssey AGM (PC925) in my SC and a Deadweight (prototype) in my 993.
With the battery isolator, we have on occasion had issues where the isolator cannot sustain the current for the AC. TBH, this has generally been with cheap eBay isolators. Bosch ones tend to be ok and I would think the old school one is probably better than the new plastic key type.
