356 AUTO G/Box
This is an open question, has anyone fitted an auto box in a 356 ??
due to deteriorating eye sight and realising that my motoring days may be numbered I am considering preparing one of my "toys" so Mrs 914-6 can drive them.(and therefore me about) she has arthritis problems so a stick shift is out .
I feel the 356 is easier to drive, RHD, and not so powerful as the other toys in my garage so that's what I'm looking at.
has anyone had experience at this?
Thanks
Ian

Re: 356 AUTO G/Box
Hi Ian, back in the day when Marc Haynes was racing his 911, they found a company in the States that made a compressed air gear change system for the 915 gearbox. I wonder if -
a/ they are still in business?
b/ they make a system for the 356?
Just a thought
Cheers

Both need IRS rear suspension, using CV joints & driveshafts.

Might be worth considering looking at swapping to a 964 Tip?

Re: 356 AUTO G/Box
I think Rob Emory has done this but maybe not with a 616 engine?

You're right Neil, didn't feature in the Registry Mag! Says it's a VW T25 transmission

Re: 356 AUTO G/Box
Would a 901 sportive gearbox work with a 616 engine?
