Have you checked how much it is from Porsche? I replaced the similar ‘72 only pipe with the hard line over the box and it was £120 for the OE part.
Not exactly cheap, but didn’t feel like it was too bad considering the stupid low volume nature of it and it’s complexity.

I looked at Aeroquip, but wasn't sure what what bits I needed. I think you might be suggesting replacing the whole thing including hard pipe with a long hose. Any pointers the part numbers I need would be mucho appreciated.

Thats for an earlier car I think, up to about 72, with smaller nuts (M26?) and long right angle connection hose. Mine is M30, straight, short and not available new. There are a couple on Ebay Germany which look correct, but state 1969 (no idea what nut size). following this with interest as the 'similar' pipe on my car is slightly weeping oil from one of the crimp connectors ( I've wound a jubillee clamp onto the crimp at the moment ) . I also dont want to remove the hardline as engine still in car so not sure I can even get to the engine mounted fitting and ive had to cut off a nut before on the one year only thermo housing at the tank and would prefer not to have to do that again. I'm wondering if any of the mobile agricultural hydraulic hose repair / replace lads might be able to replace the flexi in situ

Although there are lots of companies who could replace the flexi section, I am fairly certain that we would have to remove the hard pipe and take it to them to have the new hose section fitted. That is because (I have it on good authority that) the crimping tool would never fit into the space available around the hard pipe, even with the engine on the floor. I think the only ways to achieve an in-situ repair are as I listed below 1&2. I ordered a '72 oil line from Part Works. They included their 2022/23 Parts Catalogue with my order

I was aware of this part (from other sources too if one searches for 911.107.722), but this has the J-shape connection and requires the later hard pipe that takes this screw-on hose rather than the crimped version - I dont know at the moment what the nut thread size is (M30 or M26) either, so not sure if it will fit and if a suitable hard oil line exists with the correct nut size. Can I just check my understanding - you are going to remove the hard pipe, and take it to a specialist to have a new flexi hose crimped on? Where are you getting the new fittings for the ends of the flexi hose (I suppose the nut can be reused with another crimp)? Thanks for any tips and updates you can give! I heard that the hard pipe is difficult to remove and the nut might have to be split, meaning that a new nut and flare will be needed... I think...

I’m hoping it will all come apart ok as the engine was only rebuilt about 10 years ago so should be straight forward …. Worst case I buy a new pipe

Take the old pipe to your local hydraulics company. I reckon they'll fix it over the trade counter.
