Welcome to the new improved DDK Porsche Forum.....

Post by Bootsy »

As posted numerous times over the past few days.... you'll see some changes on the forum

We've updated to the latest software. More secure, new features and more efficient.

It's been a task! A fresh install but carrying over all the old data, previous bespoke coding, similar styling and permissions etc. etc etc - quite mind bending at times.

I still need to sort our email notifications being sent via the forum - I'm getting there!

I didn't do it on my own - as always I employ the assistance of a well versed freelance developer who has relevant experience.

In this case I employed Olena - she's been a star.

Olena is based in Kyiv (let that sink in for a moment) having only recently moved back home with her 3 children after taking refuge in Western Ukraine for obvious reasons.

Chatting about the DDK forum on Zoom with Olena at the weekend seemed rather insignificant given what she and her fellow Ukranians are going through but life has to go on and I suppose you can call this a good example.

I'll continue to retain Olena to help with technical stuff and was only too pleased to employ her in this instance and for her help and diligence.

Thomas - huge thanks to both you & Olena for your efforts to date - much appreciated.

A special message to Olena (if she's watching) - I can't begin to imagine the heartache & suffering you & your fellow Ukrainians have been subjected to over the past couple of months - huge respect for refusing to bow down to Putin & his cronies - we hope that somehow things will eventually start to improve...

I'm hoping notification emails are working again now - hoping!

By the way worth going into your User Control Panel and looking at your settings, subscriptions etc in case anything wasn't carried over although it should have been

Great work. I’m not usually good with change but this looks great.

I think you should put subs up to £20 this autumn and send a balance of that to a suitable Ukrainian appeal.
(I know we still support MacMillan but this would be a little ‘extra’).

Thanks for everything.

Regards
Mike

Hi Bootsy and Olena,

Great work, like the look and feel of the site. Much more modern.

A simple comment, on my AmAzon tablet, the search box, top right, is partly over the advertising banner.

Olena, keep strong, we are all behind you.

Well done Tom and Olena! Any chance of enabling that 'new posts' tab we had before, really helpful to go straight to new stuff rather than wading through every section?
cheers, Mike
