Grrr.. Went to pick up my 911 on Saturday and...

Post by kaferboy »

Its been in for its MOT now for over 2 months - not the cars fault the garage I took it to has been 'busy'. I finally told them last week to finish off any work that had been started and I would collect it and take it elsewhere, although not nastily and we were still on good terms. I arrive on Sat. am to find it parked outside the workshop in the rain with the windows wound down. Not a good start to my day. I am then told that they can't get it going. I have a look in the engine bay to find the 'top hat' rubber (not sure what its called) that connects the air cleaner to the rest of the intake system (CIS injection) has been bodged with mastic, and one of the mechanics tells me that 5 of the 6 injectors are blocked. One of the other chaps lets it slip that they let it run out of petrol during its long stint of being driven into and out of the workshop in the morning/evening... Hmmmm, what a surprise that the injectors re blocked.

And now they won't return or take my calls.

I'm so annoyed, and most of all disappointed - I've used this place with great success for nigh on 10 years now and have sworn by them and recommended them to many folk. I wanted to take it away there and then, but it doesn't run now!

Sorry for going on but I'm bloody annoyed and need to vent, and my wifes away at the moment so I've got no-one else to moan at!

Really sorry for you. I hope you can sort it quick.

That reminds me too much of my own recent experience...

Sorry to hear this, but trying to move things in a positive direction... will the injectors clean in an ultrasonic bath ?
From my experience of the rubber cover you describe, these need to be in good condition. I suggest you get a new one. one blow back and this will split again, once leaking will give you all sorts of trouble :(
Tow it home ASAP !

Umm, am I reading this right? This sounds like a blow up of the airbox during a backfire and no pop up valve installed?

Firstly, these airboxes arent cheap and secondly: your garage should compensate!

Hope it works out: where are you based????

Take care,

Thanks guys - there is a pop off installed in the airbox, sorry for not being too technical, the piece I am describing is a rubber U bend (but very flat) that goes from the airbox to the rest pf the intake system.

Anyway, big ass kicking for them yesterday, new piece is on order and NONE of the work will be charged, so faith not quite restored, but goodwill is I suppose.

The injectors I would think would come clean, so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

I want to get it back and get started on the back date!!!
