Not a bad backup. Hopefully your 914 will be quicker once you get it sorted

Changed out one of these

Image

It hadn’t totally failed, but there was a tapping from the chain chest at idle, that disappeared when the rpm was raised and then at the top end of the rev range it sounded mechanically harsh.

New one in and it all sounds sweet again ;)

Replaced the front M brake callipers with later Alfa callipers. Thanks SeanP.
Fitted new Brembo front brake discs.
Changed brake fluid.
Fixed the broken handle throttle, by replacing the plastic bit that disintegrated. The previous owner tied it together with a cable tie !
Fitted the missing fuel filler overflow pipe.
Replaced the bolts holding the seats with Zinc yellow ones.
Fitted new gearbox mounts.
Well I didn’t, the mechanic did.

But, I drove around town bedding in the brakes. The EBC Green stuff pads do squeal a little bit. I might replace them with Textar. That’s my normal brand of choice in the 911 and 993. But not sure yet.

Took a break from prepping the Boxster for the season opener at Anglesey next weekend and took a little jaunt round the lanes in the 964 for Drive it Day…

Thanks Thomas

It’s an interesting idea Sam……my lovely orange calipers would get lost though, that’s the only problem

Shame Jason doesn’t still have his RS negative of my car, then I could swap the wheels and see….

Sounds good Jason.

Nice pic at Langar Hall. Have lots of those in the house with the 914 and a Beetle limo - we got married there!
