Thanks Andy, So I guess my ‘Not sure if this is connected to anything’ is right!

I’ll leave it off and see if any smoke escapes from the other wires.

Yes, one brown and white also clearly shown on the diagram not connected, terminating just outside the steering column. The other end goes to an unused pin on a 6 pin plug.Image

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Sure its a 72 wiring loom?
Do you have intermittent setting on the wipers?
Looking at the wiring diagram SL35 if its not the horn then its got to me the signal to the interval switch
Or
If the other end comes from the ignition switch its the buzzer for the doors etc

Fwiw on earlier cars the diagram shows the horn wasn't grounded at the switch. Positive voltage came in via brown and if the horn switch was closed it left via the brown and white (82 and 82a) to the relay. So it's a remnant of the inferior arrangement on earlier cars. Mystery solved - possibly!?

More progress on the wiring today. Slow work, but so glad I labelled everything and took lots of pics! Again I’m leaving the labels on for now.

Fitted a new speedo cable at this point as well. I’d managed to twist the old one when I dropped the engine once and forget to disconnect it! Ever since the needle has wobbled at low speed as the cable winds itself up and releases.

So good to get that iconic dash layout back in, with that one little addition of a fresh air vent. I’ll block the chrome out on that once I’ve checked it works.

The best part of a restoration - working in clean conditions refitting new/refurbished components ...

The clean is so nice, and the fact that the jobs no longer involve an angle grinder…

The instruments have gone straight back in, no refurb. They are a bit pitted, but I quite like it.

Little jobs with no visible progress :)

Heated screen wiring and relay done, and then onto the interior lighting loom.

Fun to get that down inside the A Pillar, eventually sorted it with a fairly stiff draw wire from the roof down to the underbonnet.

Then did the other door switch, tomorrow night I’m thinking I might build up a door.

Exciting times :)

Absolutely, I’ve had one for years but unfortunately cracked it taking it out.
