WTD - 915 Gearbox and RHD pedal box etc, to convert a Sporto

Post by DustyM »

I know this is probably a tall order these days but I have a customer with a Sportomatic he wants me to convert to manual so I'm looking for :

915 5 speed manual gearbox
RHD manual pedal box.
Gear shift tower, and linkage.

Cheers

Hi Jon

I’ve got a 915 which I think is dated 1976. I’ve also got the matching speedometer which works with the take-off from the box and ‘I think’ can be converted to a silver dot centre (if needed)

Regards
Mike

Thanks Mike. I should have been more specific and mentioned that the car in question is a 3.0SC. ‘76 box would work but preference would be for a later version with the Omega Spring.

Beggars can’t be choosers though so I may well be back to you on that.

Cheers
Jon

There’s a Girl I know from the UK having her 2.4E restored in Eastern Europe. It’s originally a Sporto but was converted to race with a manual box ( Liam Dowling‘s car ).

She decided to leave it manual , but I reckon that decision was on the basis of the hassle involved. Maybe it’s worth it putting you both in contact with her ( She’s UK and Switzerland based ).

SC sporto is a 3 speed, she would need the earlier 4 speed sporto box if she’s going to put it back to original.

John I’m sure I have a SC RHD PB in bits that came from my race car.
Might also have servo etc?
I also have a 915 with LSD, wevo gate, spray bar, side cover, large bearings etc but geared for racing but it’s not cheap.
Let me know if of use?

Raymond,

Your gearbox is probably not for me in this project but if you have the pedal box then yes that’s of interest.
