Sealing leaky rocker arm shafts in the cam carriers?

n taking my 3.2 apart I noticed 3 shafts are a bit leaky and the residue seems down and out etc so would like to seal the shafts.
I know of the O rings in the 2 groves, but does this actually work? (RSR method?)
There is a high chance of shaving them when inserting back into the cam carrier holes which defeats the exercise really.

Any thoughts please?

Neil Bainbridge will sell you an upgrade that’s supposed to fix the exact worries you mention It’s less than £200 I think.

I did the O rings and agree it seems a bit pointless as they do indeed shave when you put them in.

If you put some time into chamfering the edges of the hole whilst the cam carriers are off it they may go in better. I’d already built them onto the engine when I put them in so didn’t want to add swarf to the build.

We use the O rings on every engine we build, and rarely get leaks from the rocker shafts. Yes the rubber does get shaved as you fit them but when tightened up the small amount of compression seems to give a seal.

This will give me something to ponder while I endlessly pick off hardened engine sealant today. 5 heads done, 1 to go!

£210 is a lot to fix this, but look very nice.

Have you all simply put a small section O ring in the shaft groove and eased them in?

The RSR seals are not O rings but almost rubber washers, who sells these?

I used the seals from Type911, have had the shafts out several times with the same set in and no leaks.

One or two bores in the cam housings are badly scored by me knocking the pins out previously....
For £50 well worth the try.
