gearbox problem

Post by PAUL CALDERBANK »

I have taken my 73 911E into my local garage to have the speedo drive fixed. The shaft that comes from inside the gearbox end cap to the speedo cable has sheared. My problems have been made worse by the fact that the gearbox has had the serial number ground off!
The guy in the garage has told me that as he doesn't know exactly which 915 box it is that I'll need a gearbox end cap complete with speedo drive and he's having trouble sourcing one.

Does anybody know where I can get one of these for a reasonable price?

Hello, Paul.

Sounds odd to me..

There is only one speedo drive type...if you except the extremely rare low diff ratio..

I will have one somewhere if you are stuck.

The reason he may need the nose piece is because many are broken by clumsy inexperinced removal of the box..

Ask him!

Kind regards
david
