More aggressive brake pads ?
I have 2 old Porsches , both are fitted with disc brakes , both could do with stopping quicker .
First up is a 1955 356 Outlaw fitted with 912 engine and 356C brakes wheels transmission . Goes well but have to leave a fair bit of braking distance , especially in motorway (70mph) traffic - usual problem of modern cars cutting in and filling the gap and being able to stop quicker than me . Existing pads have a lot of meat on them , probably OEM , have not taken them out for inspection , disks look pretty polished , again a lot of meat on them , any recommendations for more aggressive pads to fit 356C calipers ?
Next up is a 1974 914 fitted with a 1974 911S (2.7) engine and brakes from same 911S ( alloy calipers) . Goes well again but brakes dont match performance , again motorway stopping from 70 mph or trackday driving with late braking is a bit scary .
Tried the 'Italian Tune Up ' on a circuit , tried also sandpapering the front pads as looked a bit glazed ....no real difference
Any recommendations ?

Yes, CL brake pads. www.clbraking.co.uk
I use them on both our Hillclimb 911 and our 914/6
I’m sure KS will give a second opinion on the S callipers and CL pads on the 914/6

+3 for the CL pads, had mine in for years, road and hillclimb.
Bit sqeeeeky at light load or slow speeds but STOP the car.
Quite expensive but do the job well.
They will not stop a 911 as quick as a modern AUDI so still need a thoughtful approach.
Many on ddk use them, and many will swear by other specialist makes.
Personally, stock pads are much the same as EBC have used both, Mintex are far better, but the CL have the best performance in my 30 years stopping early 911s.
Stock but drilled discs, A calliper front, stock M callipers rear, stock master cylinder.

If the noise of the CLs is too oppressive then here are a few of my favourite pads. Maybe not all available in the right size.
Mintex 1144 the classic light sports car pads
Mintex 1155 if you wear the above out too quickly
Pagid blue. I've got these in my 69 911 and they are fab

Pagid RS-4-2 (Blue) get my vote. Which I assume are the same pads that Graham refers to.
It is important to run them through a prescribed heat cycle routine (when first fitted) for them to perform at their best.

Im thinking about improving my braking as well. Do you all upgrade fronts and rears? or just the fronts? I'd rather not chuck £200 at rear pads if the benefit is minimal or would this make the brake bias become a problem?

TBH I only do new discs with new pads front and rear.
The older 911s need all they can get to stop.
Even with the great Carbone pads you will need a good right leg to stop hard.

It sounds like your problem is stopping power and bite, not fade?
You probably know all this, but aggressive pads will help initial bite but if you need clamping force it’s bigger, more powerful calipers and pads.
I’ve run Ferodo DS3000 and 2500 in my SC (appreciate it’s not apples and apples).
3000s are a race pad and aggressive on discs but the initial bite is mega. They are very dusty though. Pair these with a new set of discs and they are magic.
2500 are an all round compromise by comparison, but a decent pad with good stopping power. They just don’t have that initial bite of the 3000s.
Both are available from circuit supplies in Leighton Buzzard.
