Torque wrench set to 8nm with 13mm socket on it. Guess what I did on my 914 today!

Torqued up the sump strainer bolt...maybe after fitting a 'tuna can'.

Went to Oulton Park Gold Cup to watch today, all parked up in R9 of the PCGB.
Had a long chat to Ralf Webber about his wonderful back date/ST 911.
What a cracker of a car, a great bloke too.

Had a run out on the weekend to the new ‘motoring cafe’ NY500 near Pickering

I've never heard of that cafe before. it's only an hour or so from Swanland - think I'll have a drive up this weekend. Thanks for posting photos

Popped by Goodwood yesterday for breakfast and a look around. I love it that its so easy to access and you can just wonder in mid-week.

Curborough Sprint School but the day started with a flat on the 914. Unfortunately the jack that came with the car is unless but another attendee had a floor jack so I managed to get off and one of the organisers took to a local tyre place and we got it fixed for £20. They aren't easy wheels to get back on as bolts sit inside the wheel so you can't turn by hand.

Anyway I got the tyre back on and the 914 ran really well. Much quicker and more balanced than the 914. However, on hard cornering I noticed a big engine pressure drop so I've ordered a sump temperature extension which KS recommended

Took my 996C4s to Devon’s Wiscombe Hill Climb (beautiful place!) to see some of DDk’s finest hill climbers, Jonathon and Keith in action.



Personal best for Keith on his first run up the hill.



And here he is looking inscrutable but no doubt very happy with his progress.

Had a clunk in the drivetrain when lifting on and off the throttle, checked the driveshafts, which were fine, so then dropped the engine and ‘box. Pulled off the side casing and check the diff and pinion for any looseness or bearing wear. It all seemed fine, had a “lightbulb” moment and stuck the clutch alignment tool in to the flywheel and gave it a twist, there was some movement, so pulled the clutch and put the centre of the Sachs Performance plate into the vice and Hey Presto it was loose. Anybody else have this issue?

Clutch!
That is poor. Never had that but did loose a weekend at Prescott with the 911 way back when one face of the centre plate came off the sprung disc. F&S genuine part...
