911/912 front suspension-hieght adjusting bolt

the bolt that adjustst the hieght on th front suspension.
is this a fairly standard bolt or is it unique
i think mine is about to break
it has seized and i'm heating the adjuster and oiling the bolt, the head seems to be flexing and i'm sur it will break off if i force it,and the supension is not level,
to replace it is it a special bolt or will a good high tensile bolt replace it ??

I'd have thought that a good high tensile bolt would do the job (to get you back on the road anyway): although the head will probably be bigger: seem to remember there's plenty of clearance there though.

At the end of the day, the bolt is only being compressed, so as long as it's thread's are strong enough (hence high tensile) I'm sure it would be fine.

Having said that, it's got to be worth getting a price from your OPC, as I can't see it being mega-bucks, and with that sort of thing, it would be good to know you've got the real deal in there .

Hopefully you'll find that now it's been left overnight, it may have eased off a bit .

BTW, I take it you've got the wieght off the bolt (i.e. car jacked up), they are much harder to turn with the wieght on them (doesn't do the threads much good either ).

thanks for that, i think i'll check the porsche garage this week

it is jacked up, heated greased, and i need to really haul on it to move it
think for a few £££s ill replace both

you can get them for £26 each from Roger Brays, don't know how much Porsche will charge though

I bought 2 from my local alfast stockest £1 each high tensile, just took down one of the old ones and they matched it. also picked up some new lock plate bolts 50pence each. Might be worth looking in yellow pages for your local nut and bolt supplier. In my experience they dont mind you buying the odd bolt.
