I think that the true answer lies in the middle. I don't think that all that many of the materials that make up a car have a 15 year life and then they have deteriorated, indeed some. Also I don't think a 6k mile car is as new at 30 years old. To me there's a lot of personal preference. I have no interest in the premium commanded by a 6k mile 30 year old classic that comes from it having 6k miles.32FlatSix wrote: I don't agree with the contention that a 30 year old car which has done 6000 miles or whatever is like new. It was designed for perhaps a 15 year life and its been sitting around for twice as long, many materials will have deteriorated as a result.

Bob Garretson had an Abarth - I remember it being on display in the ballroom at Rudding Park, Harrogate, at the 356 International in 1990 !Ayli Carper wrote:This is a rum little feller:

Here are some photos I took of Bob Garretson's car in the late 80's/early '90's ... I can't remember exactly when but it was at a PCGB event :

That's the one !
The first time I ever went in a Porsche was test driving a 356C with Bob Garretson that he was selling when he used to live near Skipton.
