Tyres
Question, the tyres on my car were made in 2011, and have less than 500 miles on them. Perhaps I am too accustomed to power steered cars and modern suspension and low profile tyres.
Seems the front end of my car is a bit less than stable, and wondered if the tyres have taken a few sets over various winters, and if the rubber is getting hard. Any way to test what the rubber's hardness is?

Re: Tyres
for minibusses , coaches , wagons etc , its an MOT failure if your tyres are 10 years old or more
might give you some thing to consider re your own tyres. Personally Id be changing them

Re: Tyres
I have just replaced tyres because of age. Front pair were 10 years old, rears 8.

Tyre change better than a copper telling you about it.

Re: Tyres
I just ordered 4x195/65 x 15 W Dunlop Blue Response. Have a 4.5 rating across the board, and at GBP 70/tyre installed, its OK. Maybe not as good as a CN36 or a P6000 but I bought 4 for less than the price of 1.

Re: Tyres
I have them on my 911.
A rated for wet grip which sold me 4 years ago.
Have had 3 sets on my daily Skoda Superb, great tyre and good price.
KS even races on them!

Re: Tyres
Thanks Chaps. I am not too worried about wet weather driving as I don't use the car all that much, and if I am in the rain, its because I got caught out.
Should have them on the car early next week.

Re: Tyres
Tyres changed this morning and first impressions with the new rubber is GREAT !!
Seems to have made a world of difference to the car's response.

Re: Tyres
For instance:
you have a bad accident in your car (any older car) and say someone is injured. Police check the car over, MoT etc and will check the tyres for wear and tear, and also condition generally, that will be where the date will come in.
I think if all 4 tyres are beyond date then possible 12 points, possibly the insurer walking away... etc.
In the face of an injury accident things take on a whole different level.
An old ex hillclimber I knew in my class was a police accident investigator, and he came out with such info.
