Targa Rear Window Fitting
A friend of mine has had his 72 Targa restored. He’s currently in the process of putting it back together.
He’s asked me to post this on his behalf.
His local car window specialist has declined to fit the rear window, as they didn’t remove it. So the question is - Does anyone know a trusted fitter that would be able to fit the rear window. The car owner and car are based near Wigan.

Timely
Or a fitter near (or prepared to come) to Fleet, North Hampshire. I’ll try Specialised Windscreens but I might be too far.

Re: Targa Rear Window Fitting
They are difficult to fit. Unless someone is familiar with the targa rear screen and has done them before I would hesitate to use them. It took three of us to fit one recently including someone experienced in the art. There is a good deal of tolerance side to side on the screen but it must be accurately centralised. Good luck.

.
Send a pm to Stuart Lee ('stuby' here on DDK) - he's the manager of Doncaster branch of National Windscreens & will be able to recommend a fitter.
Or contact him direct via their website:

You could try Alan at Canford Classics as I feel sure he will have done a few or at least arranged for them to be done.

Hi, we have done a few now probably over 40! They are a pain to do, to be honest fitting the rubber alone can take longer than fitting the screen. A pain job but not that bad.

Re: Targa Rear Window Fitting
It can take two mechanics a whole day to do it right. One of the issues is the inconsistency in supplied parts, especially window rubbers. You use the same parts from the same supplier for years and suddenly it doesn't fit! A recent example is the rear pop-out window to body seal. We just sent 3 or 4 back to the suppliers.
