Chain Guides

Post by carl »

Hello, I am replacing the chain guides on a '70 914/6 engine. The ones that came out are all black and appear to be the same size. Although one as lost its end. The new set have five black and one brown. Is the brown one an upgrade? The new ones only lock in on one hole the other hole is elongated. Is that correct?

I believe you have one two many black. You should have 3 black and one brown. Assembly diagram below:

Two more blacks required for the chain boxes. My part numbers seem right. So just going to suck it and see. 8) :)

Not sure, but assuming it is the same as 911, yes the brown ramp was a factory change. Fitted bottom right when looking at the fan pulley and of the crank.
