No.1. My hazard and indicator lights weren’t working, but had been previously. Also my parking brake warning light is not playing. Both come from the same fuse, but I knew that was OK, as no LED indicator/warnings on my fuse panel (one of Jonny’s).
Peruse a wiring diagram and muse a little over tea. The lights all worked, as when I set or unset the alarm they all flash. Pulled the hazard switch to check for power (both ignition and constant) and discovered one feed spade terminal was not fully pushed on. Pushed fully on and hazard and indicators now all working as Mr P intended. That was easier than expected.
Not sure that I have seen the parking brake light working since I wired my seats. Probably knocked off a connection, so will check when I replace my carpets. We’ll call this still pending.
I started stripping my CIS for cleaning and replacement of inlet tract sleeves. While stripping, I noticed that some injector sleeves wobbled very little and some wobbled quite a lot. I believe that the injectors are relatively new, as I saw a sales post by someone I believe to be the PO to the PO. He was selling a set of injectors that were replaced when he thought that they were faulty but his new ones made no difference, and so he was presuming that the old set for sale were fine. There was much RTV or silicon sealant around the injectors and above the injector sleeves. Now this maybe due to the PO of the PO searching for leaks, but as I don’t know what ‘normal’ feels like for injector ‘wobble’, I decided it was worth £50 to replace them all. When you’ve spent as much as I have so far, what’s another £50 while you’re in there
While waiting for the new injector sleeves, I primed the headlight vanity rings

wire brushed the gearbox cross-member and engine & gearbox mounts.

Then rust treated

And painted

In full transparency, they were going to be black, but just as I started spraying them with Hammerite, the spray nozzle broke off and the can continued spraying. I sloshed the paint on as best I could, but today decided it needed another coat and only had silver. So, silver it will be then.
I need to pressure test the fuel pipes, so I bypassed the engine completely

Just need a bucket of petrol now and I can run the pump to push fuel through the pipe that I have played with (or refurbished if we’re being pretentious). By adding some restriction at the end of the return line, I can gradually build pressure and check for leaks.
With the CIS system, I had my new inlet tract sleeves, but it was fairly obvious that everything needed a good clean. What started as a simple clean soon went downhill.
First I saw too much oil and carbon inside the inlet tracts, so as I was replacing the sleeves anyway, off came the inlet tracts for a squirt of EGR cleaner (it’s the best carbon cleaner-off-erer stuff that I had available), a rinse in the parts washer, followed by a clean with brake cleaner. Unfortunately, the inside of the airbox and the rubber pipe thing that joins the throttle valve and the CIS air thingy were equally yucky. Time to split the airbox. Took all of the screws out ….. and then realised that the two halves were epoxied together. I put all of the screws back and did my best gyno impressions, reaching into all the nooks and crannies through the inlet tract orifices, etc.

It was a bit of a struggle getting the plenum / pipe / thingy back on the top, but I managed eventually

Time to replace the injector sleeves. These are retained simply by peened over edges

So, first I dremeled off the peens

and drifted out the sleeves

Comparing the old and new sleeves, I don’t know why I bothered

With new o-rings fitted, I first pressed then drifted the sleeves fully home and re-peened (if there is such a word)

All ready for refitting of CIS to the engine now.
