Oh well, Im done with this thread now, its clear I will only get criticism as I go along as I will not be reaching the ridiculous expectations seemingly required. I never started it to be critiqued by the originality police and their fat wallets, telling me how naive I apparently am to not realise how better a finish I can get by writing blank cheques to people... If only I had consulted knowledgeable members then I would have known that all I needed to do was to pay someone else, like 10 grand and Id get a better floor pan paint job (an absolute top priority)! It literally never crossed my mind! I'm off to give my money tree a shake and see what fall out...

Glad you stuck with us. There’s a lot of help on here and lots of different opinions but you should take every comment as helpful even if it’s not what you want to hear. Keep up the good work. One of the best threads of a miserable 2020. Keep the thread going. You have done a great job. Going to be a very nice 911 when finished.

I think many on here who 'expose' themselves with a major project become a target for a variety of reasons, but it is great to navigate through those waters as the end of the journey will be sweet as it will have your blood, sweat and tears all over it.

I've loved this project so far and look forward to your First Drive video.
These things are utterly possible DIY and I for one admire anyone who has a go themselves, 11/10 for you!

Hope you are not slackin' now; press-on, 2021 will be ready and waiting from Easter forward, so 3 months to go!

Thanks both, Im glad to have stuck with this and that you have all stuck around to help me out. Im glad to be a small part of the DDK community and I hope my compromises haven't ruffled too many feathers! I am trying my best to keep this car true to its roots. Hopefully I'll get it on the road very soon.

Theres still a way to go in some ways but not in others. I have no seatbelts for one thing, and no tyres for my wheels, no windscreen wipers, no horns, no front right indicator, no front ARB arms and linkages... and these are just the things I really need to get on the road, my doors have no interior trim at all. A full set of arm rests, rails and pockets wont be cheap, but I can live without them for now.

Progress this week has included fitting my brakes and bleeding them. Got my calipers back from Classicar Automotive and installed. The bleeding ended up being a total nightmare but in no way due to the car. I tried gravity bleeding but with the reservoir full and the nipples open nothing was happening. So I used my pressure bleeder... little did I know that there was a blockage in the pressure bleeder so when I screwed it onto the reservoir rather than applying 20psi of pressure to the fluid it was instead sealing the top of the reservoir and preventing the fluid from flowing through the system at all. It took me 3 hours of head scratching about why constant pumping of the pedal was not pulling any fluid through from the reservoir or pumping anything out of the calipers. Once I found the blockage on the pressure bleeder all went well but there was a lot of swearing for many hours before I found it. I adjusted the handbrake and all was set.





Im still working away at my wheels one at a time....

Great progress, keep at it. It might seem like a lot is left, but look at where you started! You have an engine and brakes, that means a motivational trip down the drive is possible once you have tyres sorted.....

Haha! I certainly wish I had a rural NI drive a few out buildings wouldnt go amiss either! I'd fill them with projects in about 6 months. Mines about 12 meters long and I count myself lucky to have that! Its not even shared too! My only problem is that there is a dip where the pavement meets the road which even my modern daily estate car scrapes the front end when traversing, going to have to get some planks out when I take this out for the first time.

I've never had an easy time of bleeding my 911's brakes and my wife goes grey when I suggest it is time to bleed them, which they definitely need now. That fluid must be 8 or 10 years old now.

I have a short drive in the cul de sac, maybe 6 car lengths to the road. I think someone would shop me to the Police if I took a non road car to the road! Suberban living, never used to be like that.
