Let me have a go at that. Within 4 years you will have started the resto. 8 years later it still won't be finished. You will have bought a 992 in the meantime. Amiright?

911L are quite Rare in RHD , I have one , so only about 5 or 6 around maybe less

The difficulty is that is it being a non matching numbers car, so a 911T engine I think it was in a 911L chassis makes it neither. You’d be better off with a number matching 911T in terms of value. Still a nice car but will probably cost more to put together than it’s current market value.

So I have been asking around and it looks like it doesn't make sense for me to restore it as the cost is looking north of £100,000 to make an £80,000 car.. I think that the car is worth more sold off in parts, which is against the owners wishes.. If anyone is interested in the car as a project or in buying any of the major parts please let me know and I will put any offers to the owner..
Having spoken to Classic Carreras and Tuthill, the shell restoration costs are going to be £35-50,000.

I'd suggest that if you don't like the idea of a restoration where the end result is worth less than the cost, then you don't like the idea of restoration. It's very hard to make money at it, even if you are canny and do some of the work yourself. Let alone if you factor in the cost of your own time...
Some of us are weirdos and (mostly) like the journey, what we learn along the way, and the knowledge that everything is as near perfect as we can get it. But it's not an easy path, nor easy money.

Hopefully a weirdo will buy this car and restore it. A RHD 911L is worth saving, matching numbers or not.

Hi All
it has been a few months and I owe you all an update.. I had a good look at the car and did a realistic/pessimistic assessment of the money and time that i would have to spend and decided not to make an offer as it would have been less than the sum of the parts and the owner was keen not to break the car. I offered to help to sell the car, one person came to look and made what i think was a fair offer for a non matching car needing a full restoration.. £20,000. The owner decided to keep his car, thinking that it is worth £30,000. That is where we are now.
I would love to restore it, but it would cost far more than the finished car would be worth and I think that sourcing the parts could be a nightmare.
I suggested putting it on ebay to the seller, but he is very concerned about people seeing the other treasures that he has in his workshop and doesn't want the hassle of numerous enquiries.

Final update.
It sold yesterday. It has been purchased by Brian at Rindt. He will find a new life for it. The seller is happy and I think that the deal was a fair one.
