Help diagnosing a suspension clonk

I think I fixed it!!!

There were three very thin washers in the bottom of the strut. I added another thick washer and a glob of grease. The clonk is gone!

There is now the faintest clonk on the other side which was obviously being masked by the louder one so will do the other side as well.

Oh the joy! The joy!

On even a short run its just such a difference.

Two garages! Two! It makes you wonder!!!

I can 100 per cent confirm, after extensive testing....there is no clonk. Hard to describe the joy.

I have - I even sold the newly bought stethoscope to one of them I dont need it no more!

And yes, more dirt needed - less polishing, more driving. The new tyres need a good scrubbing!

If you haven't already done it, it's worth checking that they've been correctly fitted (orientation-wise) - even top tyre suppliers/fitters (including some very well-known names) have been known to get it wrong ...

The 4-digit code of the sidewall needs to face to the right on the rear tyres & to the left on the fronts - ie like this

Just to be clear - that diagram means the week/year code should be on the inside of the wheel (i.e not visible) or the outside of the wheel (visible)? IGNORE ME - its the 5 digit code you are referring to....

They are a great (expensive) tyre - noticeably better than the Vredestein Sprint Classics that were on it before.
