356A shift lever spring seat part no. 356.24.126

Post by RoscoP »

Hi Folks,
Unbelievably it now looks like I'm only missing one part to complete my 58A resto, it's 356.24.126 which fits between the spring and plastic half moon affair on the A gear lever. I've tried to locate on via all the usual suspects but to no avail, I don't even know if this item is made of plastic, rubber, metal or finest green so I thought I'd put a multiple choice list of options out there to see if any of you folks could help:
Option 1. Does anyone have a spring seat in good condition that they would be willing to sell? I'll get some made as well.
Failing that
Option 2. Does anyone have one in good condition that they would be willing to loan me so that I can get a few made - I have some useful friends amazingly!
Failing that
Option 3. Does anyone have one that they could photograph, make a drawing of with dimensions etc in order that I can progress as described in Option 2?

Hope someone can help out, as I said I'll hopefully get a batch made so this problem can be avoided in future.

Thank you for listening

Hi Andy,
Yes, I've scrutinised those pics myself, difficult to ascertain dimensions and what it's made of.
Any ideas?

I'm fairly sure it's pressed steel.

As for dimensions, it needs to be a 'snug' fit on the top of the spring with a 'cupped' top to cradle/hold the underside of the rubber bush ...

Thanks for the reply Andy,
I've ordered a new spring, so if no further info comes to light I'll have a go at making a plasticine dummy that mates with both the plastic ball and the spring and then get an metal one turned on a lathe, hopefully it will do the job!
