I don't know if there were any technical differences between the Escort and the Squire - I do remember the Squire had some small wood mouldings along the side of the body to give it a pseudo 'woody' look.KS wrote:You're right about the Escort - it was the basic 'estate' version. The up market one (it was all relative!) was called the Squire (without the first 'e').911hillclimber wrote:Blue = Austin A35
Ford Escort I think is correct for the estate. here was also an Esquire in the same design, not sure of the differences.
Both before my time, but loads in the scrap yards when there were some!

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
My dad made a "Squire" out of a 100E van, I learned to drive in it off road around 1966 when I was 15. I still remember the registration PYH 180, I don't suppose it is still around. Painted in Iris Blue, I assume a Ford colour, but who knows.Arfor Jones wrote:I don't know if there were any technical differences between the Escort and the Squire - I do remember the Squire had some small wood mouldings along the side of the body to give it a pseudo 'woody' look.KS wrote:You're right about the Escort - it was the basic 'estate' version.
