Details, details

Post by aircooled »

Hi,

Have not posted on here in while. Looking for some help please!

Seeing the Eric Clapton documentary I came over all wistful seeing an orange 911. I used to own a tangerine 1972 2.4S. I sold it 20 years ago. I have now tracked the car down and have bought it, 30 years after I first acquired it.

It was an unfinished restoration so I'm now finishing it off but I'm uncertain of some of the details on the car. Is there a good reference source for things like:

- Do UK spec cars have an Oil sticker inside the outside oil flap? What colour is it and where should it be positioned?
- The gold stickers in the engine bay. can anyone tell me what goes where please?
- Did it have a sticker on the inside of the fuel flap?
- Which rubber shield should be inside the fuel flap?
- Should it have the orange Porsche crest, currently it has a red one.
- What should be on the paint code plaque?
- Can I run the car on super unleaded or do I need an additive?

Finally, what's the best source of there bits and pieces? Porsche? Car Bone?

I used to have an American book thatcontained a lot of this information but it's been lost long ago and not having run an early car for a long time I am very rusty on the details.

Really apprciate any advice from the DDK community.

many thanks

Can't help you with all the details but since you mentioned an orange early 911 in the Clapton documentary I thought you might be interested in this

72 petrol filler flap. Not rubber but ‘coated’ material. No stickers under the metal flap.

I think the second sticker from the left was omitted on ROW cars.
