Passenger 73T front seat
Mrs Hillclimber having a bit of trouble getting out of the bucket seat in the 911 yesterday, so thinking of getting a stock T seat. passenger side only.
Anyone with such a seat available, be very nice if acceptably upholstered in black!
If not a stock seat, anyone fitted an aftermarket seat of a similar nature?

Passenger 73T front seat
My experience of the stock seats is they are dreadful for other reasons! Unsupportive, bouncy and not comfortable. If the plan is to encourage greater usage of the 911 together then I wouldn’t go that route.
I bought a pair of these many, many years back and whilst shuddered a bit at the price have never regretted it. Still look great after years and tens of thousands of miles. Comfortable and easy to get in and out of!

Re: Passenger 73T front seat
Yes, know what you mean ref stock seats, like a pair of trampolines bobbing along....
I have a pair of BF Torinos in the car, but now use only the passenger side as my Sparco race seat is superb.
However, it is the bucket nature of the BF seat and the steel tube frame that is getting to be the problem.
Just spoken to her about it over breakfast, and she thinks a seat like the stock one would be a good idea.
It must be an problem as she will usually discourage any change to the 911 on her behalf.
Thanks for the lead though.
Very few aftermarket suppliers do a touring seat.
Even thinking of an old MGB seat with fresh foams and covers, all really cheap.
A tilt back would be nice too!

100% with Gary. Definitely seat Mrs H in a standard 73 item and have her driven even a short distance. There is next to no support, and you are bouncing and sliding about on top of the seat, not sitting in it. After the first corner you will be ordered to slow down to walking pace!

Also consider tombstones from a later car. Comfortable, supportive and cheap! This was my fix from the standard seats until I bought the Recaro sport seat replicas.

Yes, but there are lots of individual cheap non-Porsche manually-adjusted seats on ebay.
In my first 911 I fitted a pair of BMW E30 leather seats (which I think I eventually sold to Miggs) - fairly easy to adapt to fit them to the 911 seat mounts.

MX5 Mk2 are also cheap, manual, light and comfortable (and look a bit like tombstones!)

Re: Passenger 73T front seat
We had re-trimmed (Aldridge Trimming, Wolves) original T seats in the 911 when I rebuilt it.
I hated them, or rather mine, Mrs H seemed ok, but she very very very rarely moans.
Sold them to another 911 nutter down south for £100 each, cost of the re-trim.
Definitely cannot have modern tombstones, most definitely no leather anywhere, and preferably as little scorching plastic either.
I have a perfect pair of Period Fusina Tourinos in the car, or rather just the passenger side, diy brackets so you sit low deep in the car as possible which is part of the problem maybe.
Of all the ideas, the new one that Gary has suggested is winning in The Bosses view.
Sale of the nifty Fusinas will off-set the cost.
Making slide seat bases is easy.
Age is catching us up!
The drive the other day in a busy Cotswolds was hard going.

Re: Passenger 73T front seat
i bought a pair of Recaro sport seats as my car had 'lost' them somewhere en route.
I took them to Garry for recovering and he told me they were not Porsche but instead either Ford or BMW so are about half to an inch wider if i recall. They also dont have headrests.
I ended up then buying some correct seats and the guy i bought the others off wouldnt take them back, insisting they were Porsche - he said he had taken them out of his own car. So i ended up keeping them but had them recovered in black by Garry with a view to moving them on at some point......
In my head you get the benefit of a sport seat but with a bit more lateral room
Let me know if any interest and i can visit the attic and take some photos and measurements.....happy just to sell one....

Wife hates the leather in the Boxster, the smell after 11 years, the cold shock, the hot melt...
Thanks for thinking of my task!
