Braided brake hose pipes

Post by jtparr »

As Think Auto which supplied my original pipes no longer stock the braided cloth finished hoses I thought I would see if any of you guys might know a reliable source plea
It’s for the E Type but all their specialists seem to sell is neoprene or other rubber fished types

Thanks

A few of places to try (if you haven't already) - they may be able to suggest possible stockists if they can't help:

Thanks Andy

Nothing doing...I also tried a couple of others from the EType forum

The original E Types had a smoother Girling product with a yellow line but that is unavailable, some later cars seemed to have cloth covered

It’s a real shame that the Cohline product you once recommended to me with the blue/purple cover from Think Auto is NLA from them or others...as its superb and given me no issues in 14 years..I could easily have coloured it black

I can get some fabric woven covered from the US but its crackers to have to do that...

Might have to be smoother rubber after all...so long as I can remove the imprinted text that they come with

Have you tried Goodridge?

Probably not the correct model, but shows the type.

If you haven't already tried them it might be worth contacting Advanced Fluid Solutions in Essex - I've bought a variety of fabric-braided (& other) hoses - including Cohline - for fuel & brake systems on my Alfas & Fiat Abarth from them:

What size / colour is the hose?

I bought the blue stuff recently with the outer cotton braid and black is also available. Both with circa 7.?mm ID to fit to 8mm pipe (joining to master cylinder/ reservoir at each end)

7mm blue is aircooled VW stuff.
I bought a metre from link below. He also sells via eBay which might be a better price on a single item order. Maybe Just call to double check he hasn’t finished the drum and replaced it with the smooth stuff. “Just campers” might have the black cotton braid version (in the photo, maybe) but again double check with a phone call.
