A1 Quattro

Post by sng45 »

I seem to be on a bit of a "hot hatch roll" at the moment, just after buying my Mk1 Golf Gti a week or so ago I received a text from the chap I bought my Audi A1 Quattro from in 2017, we had a "gentleman's agreement" that if I sold it I'd give him first option to buy it back which he did when I sold it in mid 2018, with of course the option for me to buy it back if he sold etc.....

Well he's decided to sell and called me to see if I wanted to buy, so I'm collecting it next week !

This is an absolutely epic car ! Only 333 were made and 19 originally imported to the UK. All in the same colour , all LHD and four wheel drive - an Audi A1 Quattro with an S3 engine tuned to 256bhp, with a sports exhaust . Bit of a German Integrale.

I can't actually remember why I sold it, probably to buy a 911, but I'm pleased to be getting it back, of course with the option for him to buy it from me if I sell. It's an incredible car and I think one of six left in the UK. Since buying from me, he's driven it home to Lancashire from my house ( about 120 miles ) then 10 miles to the detailers for an 80 hour ceramic coating detailing session, taken it for a service and that's pretty much it ( he's got quite a few other cars which he drives instead ) so it's in absolutely perfect condition.

I think a trip over the Alps to the rescheduled Mille Miglia in October is on the cards.

Roll on collection day next Wednesday.

(apologies for the non Porsche content )

How does one get on the list of people who might buy your cast-offs?
I see lots of inbound cars but didn’t know they were outbound too.

There’s something about the proportions of that car that make it look a bit unreal. A bit Tamiya.

I like it.

I don't really like to sell things if I can avoid it, much to my wife's annoyance ! ( although I did sell my 718 the other week in expectation of buying something, Italian - mid-engined and expensive but I got messed around by the seller who refused to allow an inspection !)

This probably explains why I seem to be up to fourteen cars at the moment without trying too hard !

Not often you see a car that looks like its come STRAIGHT off the drawing board. Looks like a future classic to me... maybe the new breed of hot hatches?

I am amazed.
