Polished spokes on Fuchs

Post by IJD »

My car has the Carrera black graphics on the side, was there any logic from Porsche as to whether the Fuchs alloys that came with such cars from the factory had polished or coloured spokes?
Seem to be pics of both around but I can’t decide which is correct.

Hi, it's originally a 69S that was updated by Autofarm in the 90's to '73RS spec plus a few motorsport tweeks including 7" and 8" 15" Fuchs and a ducktail. I've owned it for 30 years and re-rebuilt it in 2017/18.

Its Gulf blue, with black graphics and black wheel centres.

many thanks, Ian

Mike, was it only the white with blue, red or green graphics that had painted colour matched centres ?

That’s correct James but the spare was always non coloured.
Special order body colour, decals and wheels were always available so you see, for instance, black RS’s with red or yellow with green.
Of course some were ordered without decals at all.

Mike

thanks Mike, that's seals it. As an ex competition car I'm fortunate in having two sets of wheels, i'll default to the polished spoke set.
Hopefully a pic attached of what it currently looks like, definite improvement by going to polished spokes as Porsche intended.

Nice looking car. Well worth ditching the black Centre Fuchs for a more period look. I think it will lift the look and complements the window frames etc.
To be absolutely accurate you need black trimmed indicator lenses and black horn grilles but keep the current ones safe, they are more valuable and rarer than the replacement black.
Gulf blue, great colour.

Mike

swapped tyres and fitted polish spoke wheels today, looks much better. Black centre wheels going on ebay tonight if anyone interested.

Need to polish up centre caps so they match wheels.

Thanks for your advice
