Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Took the repro Durant mirror off the 911 to finally, after 30 years, get the bloody thing to be adjustable so I can see the motorcyclists and Range Rover Sport hooligans in my blind spot.
Usual heart-stopping moment as you prise the plastic keeper ring out to access the pivot bolt, let alone 'cracking' it back in to place...
All done now, and hope to test it tomorrow/weekend.
Wayne, not sure 'we' will get many events to have a go at even if Shels Walsh have resumed their calendar.

Took car down to "Evil Ben' Lewis to have some welding done (rear bulkhead behind passenger seat and pedal area). Hopefully get it back next week so can finish soundproofing and install Lakewell carpet set.

Drove to work and back, targa top off, wind in what’s left of my hair. Huge fun driving it as intended.
Now it won’t start, but it’s back in the garage so I’ll look at that another day.
Perfect day for a targa in spite of the starter.

Had a wonderful drive in the 964 with the wife, on my favourite roads up to the Hartside to social distance meet a couple of Ddkers .... For those of you who don’t know the area, I drove through Barnard Castle

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
After 6 years or so of driving my '66 912 at standard book suspension height, I relented to my son's nagging and we dropped the ride height to something more sporty. Always thought it would settle a bit over the years but it never did.
The Americans seem to aim for 25.5" (648mm) height to wheel arch at the front and 25" (635mm) at the back for what they call the European ride height.
Not sure any of the books ever gave a different ride heights between US and ROW 912s but regardless that is what we aimed for.
Ended up taking approx 1.5" out of the front and 3/4" out of the back!
Aesthetically it looks a lot better to my eye, and dynamically it does seem to drive better.
Will keep an eye on the heights to see if it moves or settles with a bit more driving in case it needs a tweak.
Next job might be to go for a smaller ( <420mm ) steering wheel to sharpen up the drive.

I’m pretty hopeful Graham. The sprint at Goodwood in early August has been 95% confirmed today, behind closed doors, with electronic signing on and self certification of the car instead of scrutineering. And face masks required when helmets are not on!911hillclimber wrote:

Fingers crossed. Mind you, I have only driven 3 times in 10 weeks so will be a bit rusty!
