That was exactly what I was going to say! Trying to do all that on your back with it all a few inches away isn't my idea of fun anymore. Mind you, I don't think I ever thought it was fun!

And talking of polish...

Been given the day off garden duties, so decided to do a deep clean (for me) of the Boxster.

Clay bar first (my new-found friend, Bootsy' influence), Autoglym Resin, all buffed up, took the under dash/front bonnet covers off to find a jungle in there so dealt with those areas too without gashing my hands on all the screw etc. Looks great.

4 hours in total, pollen filter is the original from 2009...don't you just love all those OPC services.
Very satisfying.
Wheels tomorrow.

I decided, since we can't go out to play, to tidy up my wooden shed and once I removed the covers, discovered I still have 3 tractors that I need to restore/start using/or sell .

This Lock-down could be just the therapy to start on one of them, but only after I finish the 911s and the 912.

I did the same job on my Cayman a few weeks back - even with the later design and single access panel it fills with lots of rubbish and leaves.
Whilst there I coated anything that might corrode in ACF50.



Whilst there I wondered whether the geometry on the front struts looked a bit aggressive?!?



Current jobs whilst I've got it in the workshop has been to remove the liners from each wheel well to remove the debris and gravel, and to clean everything up and protect with Dynax and ACF50.
Every liner was full of rubbish and gravel, as are all the suspension arms (terrible design with a U channel).

Currently I have removed the exhuast tip to replaced with a new one I bought (cheaply) - but made the mistake of buying a 982 GTS one and its definately different to the 981 GTS one.
New plan is to repaint/refinish the old one and put it back on. Can't believe how rusty the whole exhaust system is on a 5 year old car!

Have been wire brushing it back to some semblance of shinyness!

Just done the wheels, off the car, Wonder Wheels clean, wax after all the tar removed using Autoglym tar remover. 19" rims are very heavy!

Jet washed the crud from all 4 corners, and as you say, so much corrosion everywhere.
Porsche are not good at corrosion protection....

Lots of negative camber on your car!

Yes I also cleaned all the wheels - similar process to you - Wonder Wheels Colour Active - Autoglym Tar remover - Polish with Meguiars Ultimate compound - Seal with Gtechniq Wheel Armour.

Not that anyone will ever tell, but I'm hoping the combination of the Wheel Armour and the Ceramic Brakes means they won't need to much cleaning going forward.

I thought the 19" wheels on my 997 were heavy but these 20" seem heavier.



As for the camber - I know the previous owner enjoyed a trackday or two so I'm guessing he's had it adjusted to his liking. Must say when I last drove it ( seems a long time ago ) it did stick to corners pretty impressively.

Once the exhaust is back on the plan is to remove the undertrays to see how many kgs of gravel they are holding.

My 987.2 has non standard wheels on, wider all round. The rears I think are 10" and 'just' clear the uprights. That size x 19" and the Bridgestone tyres are really heavy and you need to be careful so to avoid a squeaky voice after. I invested in a mounting screw-in bar, cheaper than an osteopath.
Front wheels need their inside cups cleaning off of the bubbling paint and re-painting, waiting for the UPOL silver rattle can to arrive. Oddly, the rears are perfect factory finish inside.
Never found a wipe-on product that resists the road/brake grime for long.

Clean insides to these big wheels make the car look much smarter.

I have to say that I love the PCCBs for the lack of brake dust. But I don't understand why there's no dust. There's still pads and they still wear!

Maybe just modern brakes flow lots of air through the rims?

No, it’s defo something about PCCBs. I used to wash a lot of GT3s and at the time was certain the £6k option was worth it for the lack of dust alone, never mind the immense solidity and feel.
