Glad to hear "all's" ok at the ponderosa JW, and impressed to see you've gone for a 914/6 colour coded garage floor!

All the best

What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Post by hot66 »

Bizarre weekend of weather up here ... floods everywhere Friday and Saturday with storm force gails .... by the time my hangover cleared on Sunday the roads had been blown dry and the salt washed off and the sun was shining Image... so first time in ages took the 964 out for a blast and then the early car out too. Always great to drive them back to back as although similar they are also so different .... the 73 car is so much more fun and alive ( even if I do alway stink of fumes by the time I get home ) and a high compression mfi 2.4S with lightened flywheel is a peach . Never get chance to take pics as alway too busy driving ... ( apart from when passenger takes a pic through the windscreen) .... then today wake up to a blanket of snow !!!

Bit more to the Boxster today getting it ready for the 2020 year.

The geo was done at Zuffenhaus.
The read-out was all RED! nothing was in spec.
It is now tight and all Green and drives so much better, far more like I expected it to when I bought it.
Much lighter to drive, direct and accurate with lighter steering. Very pleased, and not expensive.

MoT passed with no issues.
Mike checked the coolant hoses for leaks, nothing. Suggested I change both coolant caps to the new '04' design, so will be getting those from OPC.

Very happy with how this car is now, probably the best it's ever been. :)

Must admit, it has raised my MoJo to the car. Sadly not driving to Austria in May, but a French andfurther road trip planned later in the year.
Only managed 24 mpg coming back from Zuffenhaus...

From Dempsey’s 101 projects - collectors edition.

On Sunday morning my beautifully painted garage floor was flat and smooth. The addition of a car lift was fine except loading the cars was problematic due to ride height. I thought two scaffold boards would do but it was sketchy at best, and it meant I could not really had as intended; get the loaded trailer in the garage whether the other car was on the lift or not.

So, with the 964 away I broke out the tools on Sunday morning and finished after work tonight. There were times when I thought I or my cheap concrete breaker wouldn’t make it.

The plan is to put a flat board over the whole set on a recessed lip so it is flush. With no cars on it I will be able to raise it as a large work bench for welding or household projects to big for the bench.

I am knackered. But on the plus side Norris McWhirter has confirmed the blister on my hand is a genuine world record!

Packed Weber's for recon. I tried to do one carb but still had running problems so will let a pro try.

I will report back if they are any good

Actually I genuinely am! We have about 10, but that is my go-to spade, bless him

Maybe my blisters would be smaller if I stopped being a sentimental sod!
