Took the 356 to the Great Western Classic Car Show at Shepton Mallet - the Retromobile of the Southwest, not. Nice weather, and with Storm Ciara moving in today it was a nicely busy Saturday.

914-6 came up and introduced himself - always nice to meet DDK’ers. The joy of DDK is that the longer you’re on it, the more sociable car life becomes. Not sure if this is yours, as I saw it after we parted, but it looked good.

Lots of lovely vintagey stuff around, but this Grantura I’d like to have driven home.

Loved this Ford Pop.

There was a nasty scratch on the front wing, one of those unfortunate events you curse forever.

‘New Shelf in the garage’ - we’ve all done that.

Good pictures! I am increasingly finding more of interest in some of the smaller shows than the big, shiny ones. love seeing cars that are being used rather than just polished. Thanks for sharing.
The force is strong in this one ......

Couldn’t agree more Feroz. We have a good range of local shows here in the South West. Actually some are pretty big - like Thornfalcon, but all the cars are ‘driven’, as well as cherished.

A 450-mile round trip to see Mike Bainbridge dropping off the RS gearbox and collecting the now sorted box for the Mongrel.......figured there's no time like the present so delivered the car to the workshop this evening for the box to be fitted tomorrow........Oulton Park here I come! :) ....

.....as I was leaving I actually walked back to the car and kissed it before I left! :drunken:

....on the way back took a detour off the M5 to visit Ben Coles and drop off my gearbox end casing......Ben is kindly doing the machine work for the gearbox oil pump/oil cooler :) ....

.....it also gave me the opportunity to see the 1904 engine he's currently restoring, he's put in over 8,500 man hours to date manufacturing all of the worn out parts from scratch!

It makes Porsche restorations seem like a walk in the park!.......the man is a friggin' genius! 8)

Bunked off work and went for a drive to visit Gary Cook at GDC Automotive on this beautiful sunny day.......unfortunately had an issue with a large ratchet strap lying in the middle of the road trying to rip off my steering rack cover plate! :? ......

Image

.....quickly removed it didn't stop me having a glorious two hour cross-country blast coming back on some brilliant roads.........'tis nearly Spring! :) 8)

Continuing the spend on the Boxster to get it bang-on for the year, 2 new front tyres, Porsche spec, fitted, £310, 19" so prices go up dramatically.

Geo and MoT confirmed for the car in 2 weeks at Zuffenhaus and it should then be as good as an 11 year old and used (not pampered and waxed) can be.
Can't be much else can there?

I woke this morning to find our old garage a tad more airy than normal ………..

Image

Half of the roof had blown off, completely missing the Hymer and Transporter parked next to it, and thankfully without any damage to the 911 or 914/6 ………..

Image

bounced off the scaffolding and on to the roof of our barn.

End of one quiet , lazy Sunday! :(

Lucky boy!
That surrounding water level looks 'low' compared to a 2018 (I think it was) flooding?

Braved Storm Dennis to join a local porsche club meet. Discovered the heat to my feet is permanently on, not a problem now, but need to fix that before summer arrives!
