Fuel pump rebuild

i need a rebuild for my fuel pump (not the MFI pump but the little cylindrical pump, Bosch 0580970 001)

Anyone got contact details for someone that might be able to rebuild a spare pump that i have which is in a pretty knarly state - rotor is seized, parts of the pressure relief valve missing

Also, anyone got experience of the 'new' version of this pump sold by porsche and parts dealers? Reports from a couple of years back suggested it was not a good quality part (seemed to leak after a short period), especially give the cost of it....Have things improved recently?

do yourself a favour and buy new. I had three pumps done... none of them work.
The early pumps were Chinese made and leaked. My new pump from Porsche was £560.00. Now made in Germany and have a 3 year warranty.

There are limits to the "rebuild" of the fuel pump. Cosmetically they can me made to look very good, seals and brush contacts are replaceable. However, once the commutator is worn the pump is a desk ornament as this element is not "rebuildable". As Dave says buy a new Porsche supplied pump.

Unfortunately that thread & link refers to fuel pumps for carb-equipped engines - this thread is about the Bosch pumps originally fitted to mfi engines which require a much greater fuel pressure (around 14 psi vs ~ 3.0-3.5 psi for Webers) ...

Thanks Andy, when i read that, it referenced carbs, low pressure etc so good to have an expert confirm it is not relevant to the MFI system.

Have ordered a new pump - quite pricey to say the least. I have renewed the various o rings in my original so will keep that as an emergency spare!

- I certainly wouldn't claim to be an expert - just pointing out that carbs & mfi have different requirements in terms of fuel pressure.
