Blistein strut internal bush
I’ve got some knocking from the front suspension... having had a good look round there is nothing obvious so my current gut feeling is it is the bilstein shocks knocking in the strut due to the internal bush having worn ?. It’s either this or the shock itself.
Haas anyone replaced the bush within the bilstein strut body ? And are they available from bilstein U.K. ?

Re: Blistein strut internal bush
Possibly wrong, but didn't someone on DDK recently try this, knocked the old bush down into the strut and knocked-in fresh to the right position?
Maybe on one of the Restoration threads, Peter K's?
New bushes I would think are available from Bilstein UK.

Re: Blistein strut internal bush
Yes, I did it.
Someone on Pelican made a bearing extractor but I simply drove the old one down the strut casing and fitted the new one in the top.
Parts not available from Bilstein unless you are ‘ in the trade’ . I got mine from Steve Winter (Jaz). £18 plus VAT per bearing and £9.95 plus per wiper seal

None
I was replacing the inserts as part of my restoration ‘while I’m in here’ and the wiper seals and bearings seemed a sensible additional ‘while I’m in there’

Re: Blistein strut internal bush
Hi There,
I was replacing my bilstein inserts today and this came out of the strut. Do you know if it is related to the bearing inside which you're referring to ? The wiper seal at the top was also buggered so was wondering if you know where I can get one ? Any help would be much appreciated as I can't seem to find much on the net about this.
Cheers,
Sam

Re: Blistein strut internal bush
Could be a bit of an old wiper seal or just general rubbish that shouldn't be in there.
Bilstein will only sell to the trade, so I bought my parts from Steve Winter at Jaz Porche.
The following is from Steve's email to me last year, regarding part prices (I didn't need them fitted, so no labour costs)
So to replace the parts you list will cost:-
Labour £160
Wiper seals £9.95 each
Roll pins £3 each
There is also a bush that presses into the top of the suspension leg. This is nearly always worn so new bushes are £18.00 each
All plus Vat.
