Possible storage needed

Post by jtparr »

Hi guys

I might be needing some cheap storage for 6-12 months for a barn find...no, not a porsche...an early Volvo.....assuming I purchase the car within the next week or so...

I am based close to Guildford in Surrey....do any of you have anything you could offer ?

So long as it’s dry and secure, that is enough...

Thanks

Jonathan,

Graham put me in touch with Westwood Storage out in Worcestershire. They are storing my wife's car for the moment. They have been really good and also they have access to a gentleman with a covered trailer to transport it back to them.

It costs me £100 + VAT pcm. This was the best I could find being dry, secure and not too expensive. I would pay that per week in SW London and always for a secure or dry storage. Give them a call and see what happens. Their number is 01905 799 470. So far so good with Westwood.

good luck,

Mark

Thanks Mark

The car in question is a barn find so I will look for something cheaper...like a Barn..!,... and closer

Hi Jonathan

I am not sure I can help in the <£100 range but might be able to get close if you don’t have luck elsewhere.

Have you contacted your local housing association? One of the two garages I rent is owned by the local social housing association and costs just £42pm inclusive - and no, it's not in the middle of a dubious council estate straight out of 'Shameless'. They tend to be well maintained, too. Just a thought.

.

Try Gumtree too - I rent a couple of garages in a secure (residential) location (accessed via locked steel gates) near me for £9 pw each.

I've done this in several areas over the years (including Maidenhead).

A quick check threw up these for under £80 per month:

I'm rent a garage via the council in the midlands for £60 a week. I've been on the housing association waiting list in London for a garage for 10 years and that is £40-60 a week.

£100 a month seems like a bargain to me.

Sorry guys for the lack of replies...I decided against buying the car in the end...it went for a good price, but between Barry and me we decided it was too far gone and we could do better

I am thinking about an electric conversion.....

London changes to ultra low emissions in 2 years so I need to have a different approach to my daily commute...and I am not interested in a new “modern”.....

So.....still loosing, so thanks for the suggestions..... :)
