Rear control arm bolt 69 912 (lwb)

So in order to change my rear wheel bearing recently I had to cut off my rear control arm bolt in order to remove the arm and hub.

By my reckoning the bolt I removed is an M14 (x 1.5 fine pitch) x 85mm long hex head bolt in high tensile steel (10.9), however after a telephone conversation to my local opc I was told they could get me a new bolt by Wednesday but when I asked the spec I was told it was an M12 x 75mm long bolt.

What the heck is going on? There’s no way I’m going to fit an undersized bolt to a suspension component but opc guy was adamant it was correct.

Can anyone confirm that the bolt I have removed is the correct spec, and if so recommend where I might find a replacement as it’s not something that local engineering places seem to stock.

use the parts diagrams on design 911, then you can see who is correct. The bolt length in the diagrams excludes the head, litterally the length of the thread

Order from the part number, it might be superseded but they’ll know that. You’ll also need the matching locknut.

My guess is:
90008201601 & N0212253

Someone else should be able confirm.

Thanks both, I did cross reference the Design911 website which seems to spec M14 x 80mm long so 5mm shorter than the one removed, their bolt is listed as suitable for years 78 to 89 so just wondering if pre 78 requires the extra length? Will crawl under the car when I get chance and see if I have an excess 5mm on the other side.

Just found pet via the Porsche website, looks like the following:

900 082 016 01 - M14 x 1.5 (pitch) x 85mm long hex hd bolt

900 084 015 02 - M14 x 1.5 hexagon nut

Looks like another phone call to opc is required

Perhaps I should have mentioned. The part number I quoted is from the parts catalogue and it is spec’d M14x1.5x85mm, just as you originally suggested. That’s the 912 ‘69 LWB part (same for SWB).
The later cars have alloy arms and a different bolt length is spec’d.

might just have to snap one of those up as according to my OPC the parts I require are obsolete from Porsche!
