911SC Door opener connecting bar frustration!

Post by Burma-Shave »

OK, this is the u shaped bar that connects the interior opening latch to the mechanism inside the door..

Mine keeps popping off inside the door, its missing the tiny plastic cup on the inside of the door. I have tried various alternatives (bic biro caps etc.!) which keep failing. Its really frustrating when it fails, as you have to strip the door down each time it pops off..

Its quite hard to find an alternative because of the way it all goes back together, as it has to hook back on to the opener flap..

I guess this is common to all older 911s, so there must be a better way, or does someone have a p/n at least for the little plastic adaptor cup? I can't find it on PET for the life of me.

Pretty sure Matt at Type911 does them, as well as Porsche.

Those images are from Stoddard's website so should be available from Porsche as mentioned above

Hey thanks guys, I should have checked pelican/stoddard - I think I just wondered if someone had re-engineered this so it doesnt pop out so easily- same part but longer tails on the U. I guess with the right connecting part it works as Dr P planned..

Mine are real 1973 originals and are perfect, BUT very easy to have some that have been damaged by using pliers to snap into place.
Once distorted, always prone to failure.
Cheap so do them all!
