What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

This morning the wife went to Sainsburys and I took the 911 out!

Went locally so I could be back for coffee, but all the 40mph Only MPV's were out, everywhere....
Still, a nice relaxed drive following everyone but ended up at a local Arboretum.

To get back in time for coffee, had to cut a dash back ( ) which was quite nice for a change.
I think I need to tinker about with the shifter some more, 3/4th is great, 1/2nd not so good.

Engine now a good 130K+ on it's original build in 1985 so won't run it too hard.

So, does your wife really hate your car - or just old cars in general? That must make life 'interesting'...

Hate is the wrong phrase, reluctant is better, and the reason for this is the Boxster.
It is so good, she knows I love it, and the 911 is best left to me, and trips like Silverstone Classic meeting, but not for going to SPA in September.
The car has never broken down stranding us in the 30 years we have owned it.
It has broken at 2 hill climb meeting during competition in our first 15 years with it, but never when out and about.

Her reluctance is down to us having the Boxster, simple as that.
She is quite a petrol head, has been to every motor or Motorsport event I have been to bar one in 42 years of marriage.
Possibly a record!

In the past she has stopped me from selling it.

Indeed, she will be at the race track this weekend at 6.00am and being the Team Manager, invaluable.

But she also can smell a 'trick' a 100 miles away when I'm 'leaning' to a new engine, or a new something to do with the Toys in the Garage.
Eventually I get a permission, 99% of the time.

A gem to say the least!

Well not today but I had a busy week on the old cars, I took the engine unit out of the Sporto and pulled the box off fitted a new clutch release bearing and slide replaced some seals and refitted the unit, checked over for MOT test and got that sorted no problems! I then removed the rear torsion bars from the 72 car and adjusted the ride hight when I put it together some time ago I had got it two low, I had greased every thing last time so no prob's all slipped apart and back together, then adjusted the front ones, still a little more to do on this one but making progress.

Changed my pedal cluster for one I refurbed last month and then broke the clutch cable mounting bracket on the side of the gearbox whilst adjusting the cable. The last job and it broke.......

Completed 'prototype' installation of modified CSP throttle linkage - whoever designed the 914's throttle cable arrangement had a warped sense of humour.
