My BT6 is an original RHD. Are there any images of this model showing the position of the hand throttle button?

I didn't think that the T6 models had a hand throtlle - wasn't it discontinued after the T5 models ?

Sorry Merv - just read your other post & see that you want to install a hand throttle.

I think the hand throttle knob is the one I've circled in the picture below:

Hi, on my T6 there is no hand throttle, the circled knob on the pic is for lights. The lack of hand throttle means you have to rev the engine after the engine start, see posts on USA ‘356 registry’ for useful content

Thanks guys. Yes, read all the 356 Reg threads. A majority of the BT6s actually had hand throttles up to a certain production number, mine just missed out (VIN details on 356 Reg). Useful device for warm ups and for tuning. Discontinued as some owners used them to warm up the engine and then went away to have their strudel and coffee and the revs crept up ... causing engine wear. Andy's photo above is what I was after and is correct I believe as it is the mirror image of the LHD version. The light switch on mine, as in the photo, is the switch is correctly placed between the speedo and tacho. The hand throttle/fast idle switch is on the right between the combo gauge and the tacho.

I don't know if it's any help but Alfa Romeo Giuliettas from the same period have a similar dash-mounted hand throttle arrangement...

Cheers Andy. I eventually bit the bullet and bought a cable from SM (discounted and freight free on this occasion). It's still daylight robbery for a push-pull, twist-lock cable (prices range from $US300 to $450), and I was looking around at several similar cables for ride on mowers and motor cycles. I had the knob and bezel.

I took some basic pics of my original and throttle arrangement on my ' A' The pull out knobs are located at the lower part of the dash and the hand throttle is between the dials.

The photos I took respond to the area in the footwell and being RHD might help you a bit. Mine had come out of adjustment and I fixed the problem but I rarely ever use the hand throttle. Maybe thats why they stopped supply of it.

I will post these if you think they might help. I don't think the factory workshop had photos but I could be wrong it was years ago I fixed it.

Thanks Roy. It would be useful, although the A was a little different I believe. I am particularly interested in the footwell images. The B/C Manual has no information on the RHD or more specific diagrams in situ.

My AFN supplied BT6 S90 definitely HAS a hand throttle, it’s very handy for warm ups on cold mornings!
If you PM me i’ll Send you a photo with a tape measure in shot!!!

Thank you for the many excellent photos Simon especially of the cable routing to the hand throttle mechanism. This will be on the workshop agenda tomorrow hopefully! Our cars are very similar. Not restored, Marchals, etc. I got mine from the last owner for over 48 years and only 80K miles in total. Still in original paint but a bit 'crusty' in a few places from some rallies, just the way I like them!

Yes, our cars are more similar than you realise, I too purchased mine (in 2012) off its long term previous owner, but this time a mere 28 years!
We still keep in touch and last month I received a bunch of old MOTs and photos of the car being driven round Brands Hatch!!!
Then there’s the Pegasus stickers.....

True it seems Simon. I have all these images of my car in the Duttons GP, the Clipsal 500 and numerous other rallies and gymkhanas. The original owner had stored the original (4.5") wheels and 'cap in boxes and wrapping and fitted 1967 Lemertz Sprintstars (5.5") for the track work. I refitted the original rims and 'caps. He rebuilt the motor 11,000 miles ago. Love your Haldas.

They stopped as standard fitment in later 62 as I understand. Show us some pics Jonny.
