If so, would like to know where you had this tyre fitted.

Thanks

Hi Dave. My car had a 6inch spare with a space saver on it but it was with the car. Presume any tyre fitter will do it?

I've had several Fuchs/spacesaver combinations over the years including deep six & flat six versions.

Not very convenient for you but, I think the last time I had a spacesaver tyre (165 Vredestein) fitted to a Fuchs wheel it was done at :

Wraysbury Tyres Ltd
Woodley yard
Chertsey Bridge Road
Chertsey
Surrey KT16 8LF

Tel: 01932 562299

Very knowledgeable & take great care of your wheels - used extensively by Porsche, Ferrari, etc owners.

Am I missing the obvious but why do the factory fit wheels have 2 valves when a space saver tyre is fitted?

.

One to inflate the tyre & the other to let the air out/deflate it ...

Um... isn't that what a (single) valve does?

They're 2 different types of valve - the one for deflating the tyre allows much quicker exit of the air ...

Aha! Thanks Andy.
For the motorist in a hurry. But wouldn't our puncture victim have plenty of time to deflate the spacesaver while someone fixed / fitted the proper tyre?

To be able to collapse the sidewalls of the spacesaver tyre correctly so that it folds in on itself & allows the deflated tyre to fit back in the recess in the fuel tank it needs to be deflated rapidly ...

Mike, did you buy the tyre new or take it off of an old space saver.?
Do you remember the " local tyre fitters" contact details.?

Thanks

Hi Dave I have fitted one myself a couple of times. It is a bit of a struggle but is doable by any competent tyre fitter. I probably have a tyre if you need one. Cheers, Glynn

Dave, it came off an old spacesaver, 50 quid on Ebay, and cleaned up beautifully as obviously unused. Fitted by my back street place in Weybridge, but it's sadly closed down now. As others have said it's straightforward and any competent fitter should be able to do it.

You will of course need the right year air bottle to go with it......
