Took new discs, drums ????, rear hubs and a set of studs up to Chris Rudling at Carbon 12 Racing to drill for five-lug wheels in readiness for arrival of 914. Fuchs ready to go off to Art Restoration in Strasbourg for refinishing. Had chat with Chris about maybe prototyping a four-pot caliper conversion for 914s...

Such beautiful weather, we looked at the forecast and thought fuckit let's go North.

The first outing of the year for the 356 has been lovely, we left on Monday morning and drove up to Craster, famous for it's crabs and kippers.



Some days the whole village is cloaked in kipper smoke.



After lunch we set of for Dunstanburgh along the cliffs and checking the rock pools on the way,..



Dunstanburgh castle is pretty wasted as castles go but incredibly beautiful.





Later in the day we checked in to the Joiners Arms, up the coast at Newton by the Sea.( Being a joiner I get preferential rates. obvs,)

The coast here is incredible. Walk over the fields to Football Hole. Walk up the bay to Beadnell, the lime kilns and the Craster Arms.(which which must be 10 miles north of Craster]









Then a steady stroll back down to the Ship Inn for lunch... last orders half two... almost a trot towards the end.





That's Dunstanburgh Castle on the Skyline.



After lunch, a walk down the beach to Embleton and then back to pick up the car. This is a beautiful part of the world, the sand is Caribbean yellow the beaches are empty. I like the people here, they are happy to chat and mostly have greyhounds which run like horses along beaches that stretch farther than the eye can see.





I've got a bit precious about our car. Ever since the engine collapsed and cost so much money to repair I do worry and find myself listening for the slightest anomaly. It's not that enjoyable really but after the last couple of days with the car running so well I'm happy that we can return to business as normal.

Dull and wet today, so, of course, went out in the shiny paint 911..

The car has never been a Garage Queen, so time to start getting some patina on the paint.
Went locally, local roads and with the intent to try to find a few places for a photograph and to do 70 mph to check the wheel wobble issue and to visit the Paint Shop as I promised when it was done.

Well, did all that, and the wheels still wobble at 70 mph exactly as before with different wheels but same tyres. Plan B needed.

have to say , the car is looking spot on with that stance & wheels .. hopefully you can get the reg plate thing sorted so you can run a black plate too

The plate does not bother me, been this way since I bought the car/wreck in 1989.
I'm pleased with the 'stance' and it drives /corners well like this.

Had a good wind leak whistle in the car, never had that before, coming from the wife's side so will HAVE to fix that asap.
Suspect the side frame is not compressing the seal, so easy fix.

The wipers are a complete waste of time, do any blades actually work? Nothing new in my experience, but irritating.

I'm never 100% happy with this car for all these years... , but sure has been fun!
