914 RHD headlights

Post by NAT »

Could anybody advise on a suitable right hand drive headlight to replace the original Hella H4’s on a 914? Ideal would be a reflector incorporating the sidelight bulb.
How have other owners solved the problem and even improved their lights performance? Is there a direct fitment (eg. VW) or are modifications needed?

Thanks

Same as the classic Mini, no? Plenty of halogen upgrade and LED kits available.

Cibie 7” units work well: such as these https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/cibie-hea ... 52947.html They seem to be available most places, including eBay. The 914 h/lamp mount unit has to be cut away slightly to clear the sidelight bulb. Whether they would give any superior light output than the Hella units though is debateable: they seem much of a muchness.

Many thanks for the replies, I will check out those suggestions.
Next to explore is the fog lights, just discovered I have one early type and one late type fitted.
