356 Nardi Wood Wheel

Post by mjh356@hotmail.com »

I have for sale a Nardi Wood Wheel suitable for a 356.

The boss will fit either the A, B or C. The horn wire attaches to the horn button inside. This is a complete replacement assembly for the stock steering wheel. I have owned it for about 20+ years and was saving it for a car which I sold on without ever mounting it on a car of my own. I believe it to be an official Nardi 70s/80s reproduction of the 50s/60s steering wheel, but, I have no proof. It is in pretty much mint condition and will not disappoint.

The steering wheel is 390mm in diameter with three aluminium spokes and a slight dish to the wheel as per the B/C steering wheel. However it will fit the A steering column. The aluminium spokes are in excellent condition with no marks, dings, dents or scratches. The wooden rim is in beautiful condition with a hight gloss finish which is smooth to the touch and even all round. As far as I can tell, it appears to be original and unrestored. There is one small indentation 5mm long on the edge of the rim on the left hand side as I have tried to show in the photos. It is hardly noticeable and cannot be seen from the front. You have to look for it. Apart from that the steering wheel is mint.

The wheel comes with the "Golden Lady" horn button. This is an excellent quality modern-ish reproduction of the original 50's horn button. It is in perfect condition, no cracks, marks or star cracks. It is the original style and size, fitting snugly into an original style bezel.

The wheel also comes with the correct mounting boss for the splined 356 steering column. It has a crackled black finish with no visible marks, scratches or scrapes or signs of mis-use. There are some signs of it having been mounted on the base of the boss, which can be seen in the photos. These are not seen once the steering wheel has been mounted.

I want £800 for the complete wheel including the boss and horn button. I will NOT split it up. I would prefer collection from SW London or I can post at the buyer's expense.

Your pictures don't show up.

Also 356A steering column splines are totally different (much 'coarser') to those of B/C models so the hub will only fit A or B/C models - which is it ?

Hi Andy,

You are correct, I was having a senior moment. The splines are the "coarse" type which means that the boss is suitable for an A type steering column. Thanks for keeping me honest.

Here is a second attempt at posting the photos :
