Does $100k USD sound a fair price?

Miffed. Yes. I think I’ll not buy the 69E and take the financial risk of spending $100k USD to then ship it to the UK. Let’s leave this car in Canada.

Have you tried posting on early911sregistry? Fishing for prices on that forum usually gets short shrift.

The simple thing to do here is pay for a banner from Bootsy and then you can trade freely on a repeat basis. Traders on here, in the main ( there are exceptions) pay for a banner and can advertise as many cars / items as they wish without issue in the trade section. ( There are traders who post in other sections which I don't particularly like). You may have a full time job but that is not mutually exclusive from trading in cars as well. If there was not a profit motive then I doubt the activity is for charitable purposes. To claim you are not a trader, albeit on a limited basis, seems to fly in the face of the actuality. I doubt anyone would begrudge you making a profit or trying to make a profit from the cars just pretending otherwise is what I think irritates some.
As for the view, expressed on here, that the specific posts which are objected to should be ignored: I take the point. However, some rules, common courtesy and custom and practice ought to be observed for the sake of good order on this forum. Making a legitimate complaint or expressing a view is easy to classify as "moaning" when it is not. The issue is where the line is drawn and how the forum members and moderators react.

I'm very confused. The OP is in Canada, so wants to know if $100k is right price. Is that USD or CAD?

But then it's coming to the UK (why?) for a price of not less than £110k. So surely the right question is whether that is the right price for the car, not 100,000 funny-money?

I have been watching with interest, and am glad to see that some strong debate and opinions are tolerated here, because we are all grown ups, right? This is, after all the right sort of place to have this discussion?

I think that I can see both sides of this. On the one hand, the OP is looking to do a littlle buying and selling, and like all forms of trade, it requires knowledge, which is power, and is hard to come by. Why do anything at all if there is nothing to be gained by the OP?

In some ways, the hardest thing to do is to try and buy something for £X, and then sell it for £X+1. Good luck to anyone who actually manages this, as is it the opposite of the usual. The easiest thing in the world is to buy something for £X then sell it for £X-1!

To object to any of the above us just going to end in Communism, and that would be terrible, and we would all be driving Trabants, Comrade.

The other side of the argument is that Porsches are a limited commodity. There are few about to buy. Someone flipping cars is just going to mean that there are fewer cars available at reasonable private sale prices, and genuine enthusiasts (whoever they may be) will have to pay more for the car that gets flipped.

Because of this, the enthusiasts looking to buy get rather animated.

My take on all of this, is that the market will out. Cars are worth whatever the buyer is prepared to pay, and that the value is entirely arbitary. The knack when buying is to look to purchase a car which has yet to get out there into the wider market, typically these come from places other than the internet or dealers, and are propogated by word of mouth or somesuch. The work involved in finding these cars is hopefully repaid to those who 'find' them and get them out there.

We are all enthusiasts who put money into this hobby. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose, sometimes you pay for your mistakes, but have a good time along the way.
