Removal of original horse hair / Sound Deadening

Hello,

Looks like my car still have the horse hair and sound deadening.
What is the best way to remove it?
Any solvent or chemical needed?

Wear a dust mask - this stuff is really horrible. In my experience it comes of very easily e.g. rear parcel shelf and seat backs came off in 10mins on my 67S. I think whatever adhesive was used back in the day had gone hard/brittle so easy to remove. Next issue is is if you're going to remove the bitumen sound damper layer below the horse hair. I removed mine to be sure there was no corrosion underneath, or between the bitumen and the metal work. I noticed in some areas that the bitumen had lifted from the metal slightly and had concerns the void may have had moisture trapped, luckily it didn't. The bitumen can be a pain to get off, some of it can be chipped off easily other parts are stubborn and may need heat. I'd possibly be inclinded to leave the bitumen layer if you think the metal below is good. There are loads of other threads on the subject of bitumen removal......
