Long time no read.... sadly I have been forgetting about my 911 over the past couple of years as I realised I got a bit afraid of using it. The old Alpina let me down, then the 924S broke down (mice eating wireing
I have registered her now for the historic tax status, and been using her back and forth to work, a nice 40 mile daily commute to bond again and to iron out issues before pressing her into service for longer trips. That car was turn-key and I wouldn't bat an eyelid to drive it back and forth to Belgium or swits. Now, however.....It took me exactly 100 yards to realise that I'm an idiot for not driving her regularly, as EVERYTHING about that car is complaining about being laid up.
So, I had all 4 calipers refurbished
It needs its fuchs
It needs a polish and a wax
the targa top needs adjusting
etc etc
Recently, the rev counter is bouncing back and forth. When I broke down following the DDK Scotland trip in 2007, it did that and needed a new coil. I have sadly a silver Bosch (mexican?) replacement one. I'm thinking Rose Passion for a replacement instead of a Euro Car Parts or whatever silver one?
I still have in my stash a replacement 3 Pin CDI box and my old black coil but can an old black coil be refurbished? I seem to recall that they are coated in some sort of resin, which makes them still better after 30 years than a new silver one?
I'll have to go through all the wireing and negative earth points etc etc as well, but, one step at a time.
Thanks in advance for your response.
Bert
