Machine Mart tent/garage in the garden?

You need vertical storage spaces, engine on a stand so portable, box on a trolley. Good shelves to take the suspension and lots of stout boxes
Seats become the next problem, wheels become 2 x coffee tables.

Remember to treat the wife a few times.

I considered doing what you are planning last year but the disruption in the garage was too much until you think about a spare shed/tent that is weather proof and accessible.

Agreed. It’s just something I feel I should own! I need to drill holes in stuff!

A local storage firm is probably where I’ll end up. I want to empty the garage as much as possible as constantly tripping over seats and suspension (like I did with the beetle) loses its appeal really fast!

Can’t do another shed, no space for that and my marriage would be over!

Happy to be proved wrong but IMO that's a waste of money (I know it's not much but better to have given £11 to the DDK charity) ...

You're better off buying an old heavy duty 'industrial' pillar drill - they're often cheap as they're too heavy to send via courier & thus the potential 'pool' of bidders is small.

I bought such a (16-speed/16mm chuck) floor-standing drill off ebay some years ago for ¬ £60 & it was worth the trip (& almost rupturing myself loading it into the back of the estate car I had at the time).

Ah, but I have a one off very special need on another project, and I think it will be ideal.

I've done all manner of car and bike stuff without a pillar drill over the last 50 years, but this one task is tricky.
The job is too big to do on my old lathe.

It just might be ideal, wait and see.

During a pre MOT check last night I discovered that one of my front sidelights wasn't working. On closer inspection I found the the holder and bulb was heavily corroded. Spent most of the day cleaning up the holder and then tracing down a low voltage issue. Now all sorted. MOT tomorrow morning!
