What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Yesterday I topped up the oil and set the tyre pressure at 27/31 but crap weather stopped play. Today Skye and drove out to Creaton for a walk and what a difference. Planted, balanced and a joy to throw around. I wouldn't of believed the difference a few psi made.

Tightened the front wheel bearings yet again today.
They keep getting excessive play, so something is wearing fast.
Grease in the hubs is clean as a bell.
New ones needed I think, test drive tomorrow.
Fixed the steering wobble at 70 mph by stopping the front wheels for the rears.
One must have a small buckle in it.
Still have a fine high frequency vibration in the rear, hoped the change to rubber mounts would fix it, but no.
Feel it could be the driveshaft CVs, can't think of anything else.
Classic 911s so easy to work on.

Me and my son had a trip over to the Gatwick area to pick up my new toy. its a been a few weeks since I first saw the car after it was purchased from France but I have to say I wasn't disappointed, the car is lovely and it drives just as good as it looks.

Got to start them young, my sons first comment when we started the car was its VERY LOUD.....definitely made the right choice in the new exhaust..




Will be posting a new thread on the car in the next week or so.

On the spur of the moment, drove the 911 to Prescott and the Italian/French weekend.
Odd being there and not racing myself.
Sure rained going down, wipers were awful as ever, but cleared the screen better with use.
Drove home down the M5 in monsoon conditions, but the old thing took it in her stride.

Still have my front end wobble at 70+ is, perfectly wobble-free below that.

Resolved my long standing wheel wobble issue today and had a good run in the 73T on a nice Shropshire A road.

Must use the car a lot more.

In anticipation of the winter strip down I rearranged the garage on Monday to give more space diagonally so a turn over jig will fit with all round access.

Tonight I replaced the old partially functioning florescent tubes with some monster LED battens and put another above the new work bench location. You can never have too much light!



Need to find somewhere to put the old fridge though. And buy a pillar drill. And find somewhere to store all the rest of the car whilst it’s in bits...

Gary, have you considered the self storage places?
We used one when younger son was moving house and got a deal on one, even downsized after a month or so.
We kept if for less than 6 months and it was quite cost effective.
It is amazing how many people keep their units and never go them, just storing 'stuff', and paying the monthly rent!
